Jamaica Waiting On Goodison Fitness
Jamaican coach Rene Simoes hopes to have Rovers defender Ian Goodison fit for Wednesday's match against Honduras.
The veteran centre back picked up a hamstring injury in a challenge with Mexico's Rafael Marquez on Saturday and had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher. However, despite the injury caused by Marquez's studs, Goodison completed the 90 minutes of the 3-0 defeat.
Goodison told the Jamaica Observer: "You can't hold back when you are playing for your country, if you're going to hold back then it makes no sense playing for your country."
Simoes added: "The guy (Marquez) went there to pay him back for the tackle on Giovani. It was not by accident...Goodison is a warrior, he is amazing and along with Jermaine Taylor, if we didn't have these two guys today it would have been worse."
