Tranmere Rovers' Second Round Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against Crewe Alexandra will be played at Prenton Park on Monday, 6 October, kick off 7pm.

The unfamiliar Monday tie enables Rovers players Ian Goodison and Edrissa Sonko to be involved before they travel to Jamaica and Gambia respectively for international duty.

On Saturday, 11 October, Jamaica play at home to Mexico, while Gambia are in action in Senegal. Crewe's Michael O'Connor could also be called up by Northern Ireland.

Manager Ronnie Moore said: "The FIFA five day rule means that if we played a day later on Tuesday neither player would be able to play as they would both be away with their national squads for World Cup Qualifiers.

"It is great to see Tranmere players playing for their country, and having the game on the Monday will allow us to field closer to a full strength side.

"The Johnstone's Paint Trophy is a competition we are taking very seriously. There is a brilliant opportunity for two sides at this level to play at Wembley Stadium and we'd love to be one of them."

Ticket details will be announced later this week.
