George O'Callaghan, 28, signed for Tranmere on a two-year contract from Irish side Cork City in July 2008.
He began his career at Port Vale in 1998 before moving to Cork in 2002. He made 150 appearances in five seasons for his hometown club, scoring 23 times. He won a league winners medal in 2005 and was named eircom League Player of the Year.
He joined Championship side Ipswich Town in 2007 and spent time on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion.
He scored nine goals in 17 appearances in the 2008 season for Cork from midfield before deciding to return to England.
