Terry Gornell and Danny Holmes were on target as Rovers made it two wins out of two in the Pontin's Holidays League Division One West.

A young Reserve team took on Rochdale at Prenton Park with only Mike Jones having first team experience.

After Aaron Cresswell had seen a free kick blocked inside the opening ten minutes, Rochdale took the lead with one of their first attacks, with trialist keeper David Crawford's punch striking the face of Michael Johnston and rebounding into the home net.

The majority of Tranmere's chances came in the second half. Ash Taylor's lob was cleared off the line on 53 minutes and a minute later Tranmere took the lead. Mike Jones dribbled with the ball inside the area before it was half cleared to Terry Gornell. He took one touch before smashing the ball past Rochdale keeper Sam Russell.
