Youth Coach Shaun Garnett's review of his side's campaign:

"It was a testing season for the lads in the Youth Team. Many of them played regularly in the Reserves so they have played a lot of football. As a result I've had to play first year scholars in the Youth Team a lot more than I have done in previous seasons. But I can see the development in the players and hopefully they'll have that little bit extra experience next year and will benefit from it.

"Our results picked up in the second half of the season and we went on a seven game unbeaten run. It's not all about results though, it's about getting players through to the First Team. This season we've had Craig Curran, Steve Davies, Steve Jennings, Paul Henry and Carl Tremarco all play first team football, and Terry Gornell was a substitute a few times.

"We had quite a few first year scholars play regular Reserve football as well. Ash Taylor, Luke Denson and Peter Kennedy - especially as Shane McWeeney was at Warrington Town - have played a lot, and recently Ryan Fraughan, Danny Moran and Dave Wilson have seen a lot of action. It's pleasing for them, and the experience could be invaluable.

"They played against some teams packed full of experienced professionals so it has been a test at times. Ryan Fraughan and Danny Moran were our central midfield partnership again Preston North End and they were up against Richard Chaplow and Kevin Nicholls. They've played more than 420 times between them, a lot of the games at Championship level and they've both been transferred for a lot of money. At the back we had Ash Taylor and Ryan Mitchell (a second year scholar) up against Neil Mellor who has played Champions League football. So it has been a great learning curve at times. Over the season the lads have clearly learned from their experiences.

"A lot of the boys started to produce performances in games that show the progress they've made. In several of them you can see that nine months of training have paid off in terms of improved technical ability and knowledge of the game.

"The lads have adapted well to the lifestyle required of a young footballer. They've worked hard and taken on advice with regards to food, behaviour etc. They've all worked hard in college as well which is good for the Club."

Rovers' Youth Team finished the season in ninth place (18 teams in the division). Top scorer was Josh Macauley with 13 goals, while another 11 players found the net throughout the season.
